We will root. We will rise. We will bloom like a well-nourished rose. We will nourish our wombs with a medicine most ancient. We will protect our bodies with well-placed thorns. We will pulse and spiral as Goddess.
One afternoon I was sipping a warm cup of rose tea and the idea of Rose Root Yoga came to me from the floral medicine on my tongue. I invite you to explore this offering with the knowing that it comes from something beyond my own heart and womb, that it is a prayer in service to women, a spell to weave us into the garden of the most ancient Feminine medicine. So pour yourself a cup of rose tea, nibble on some strawberries, and take a step into the winding path of the rose.

WOMEN ARE 2x AS LIKELY TO PRACTICE YOGA...
But mainstream yoga is NOT designed for the female body. The poses support male physiology. The practices are focused on ascending the body to achieve a "higher" form of spiritual enlightenment. Classes rarely focus on cues for the female body, do not discuss the role of pleasure, and fail to modify for the menstrual cycle. It's propensity to push the body through rigid sequences day after day works against the reality of a woman's cyclical body. While overall, yoga philosophy is honorable, too much of a focus on aparigraha (non-attatchment), bramacharyia (non-excess), and mind-based meditation can lead women to become disconnected from their bodies and pleasure.
AS WOMEN WE NEED YOGA THAT:
1
Honors our female physiology, especially in regards to our pelvic health.
2
Roots us to the earth and to our bodies for nervous system regulation.
3
Supports us to feel safe and empowered in our bodies, sensuality, & sexuality.
4
Nourishes the cycle of our wombs throughout each month, and throughout our lives.

depending on the unique needs of each woman.

A MAGICK MOST ANCIENT
ROSE LORE
The Rose has long been a symbol of the Goddess. She appears as a symbol of ancient Sumerian Goddess Inanna, of Aphrodite and Venus and of Lakshmi. One story says that when Aphrodite emerged from the ocean foam, roses bloomed in her wake. Another tells of Aphrodite running through roses to save her lover Adonis. The thorns cut her ankles and red blood trickles onto the white petals. Aphrodite is too late to save Adonis, and the roses remain red as a tribute to their love. As Earth and the planet Venus orbit the sun, Venus makes a rose-shaped pattern around Earth every eight years.
Along with other flowers such as the lily and lotus, the Rose is often seen as a representation of the Goddess's vulva through which we are all born. The way the petals of the Rose unfurl mirrors the way a woman unfurls when she is nourished, turned on, and ready to bloom. But in order for the Rose to bloom in her full glory, she must be rooted down into the earth. She is not only a flower. She is an entire system of root, stem, leaves, thorns, and blossom.
Let the Rose remind you of your wholeness. That you too are root, stem, thorn, and flower.
ROSE ROOT YOGA
has three bespoke journeys for women based on the medicine they need and a virtual garden* of movement, ritual, & meditative practices.
